And don't anybody try to correct me, I am gaming on macs for already 12 years and know what I am saying: Crossover is crap.ĭear OP, I am in a same boat. I don't even know why it exists at all, I was not able to run anything on it to be stable and working. I either need to buy Java edition or use other devicesīecause Wine is sheit for gaming, as well as it's paid version called Crossover.
CROSSOVER ON M1 MAC MAC
ipa file that was designed for iDevices on a Mac and then they took this away from the users - I can't run Minecraft that I purchased for my old and now unbearably slow iPad on my fresh M1 Mac. I still don't understand this "weird flex but OK" move by Apple when they first allowed to run ANY. Instead of making MacOS more straighforward for developers, Apple chose to make it as much of a closed system as possible Instead Apple still promotes their own Metal API that works only on Apple devices and not a Open Source thing. Also I had heard that the Open GL/Vulkan support on Mac is still very basic, these are crucial for multiplatform game development. Another problem is the AppStore and it's fee - it's not a secret that Mac games are much pricier than the games for iOS. Now all games must run in 圆4 bit mode even if they were initially x32. I really don't understand what was the point to cut 32-bit support from their OS. I think one of the main problems why devs still stay away from Mac is due to the closed nature of their OS.

CROSSOVER ON M1 MAC WINDOWS
If they loose their opportunity again by telling everyone "Mac is not for gaming" - they will loose for another decade while Windows and consoles will still be the main gaming platforms. But now their phones, tablets, headphones, laptops are everywhere, so I HOPE that it will change. And maybe back then it was like that and Apple could not dictate their rules on the market. In fact, I think that in the future developers will have to start supporting Macs as well, it won't be like PPC Mac era when they were like "no way! It's a whole different architecture! The future is Intel". And thanks to Apple it's happening already, market is changing. The mobility and low power are what users actually want, 15, 19, 25 hours on a single laptop charge while doing even the most "demanding" stuff. And now I still think that ARM is the future. Five years ago I said somewhere on Reddit that "Apple gonna dig Intel's grave" and I was bashed by other users straight away. I think they will anyway have to give up somewhere in a future and support both Windows and Mac.
